A Funny Video

When Rachel was young, she was pecked by a chicken, which left her a phobia of all the animals with beaks. She will be anxious even when chicken stares at her. To help her smoother her fear, I made a short cartoon about chick. In the beginning, I hide the chick’s beck and eyes to have a easy start, and then I gradually unveil them.

In my research of how to deal with phobia, I found two therapies that may help, and I employed them in the cartoon.

The first one is called Systematic Desensitization, which means that condition a nagative responses to a stimulus into a positive response to that same stimulus(heathline.com). Therefore, I put Rachel’s most favorate ainmals, dog, along side with the chick.
The other one is called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It focuses on changing negative thoughts, Shifting the negative impression to possitive impression(study.com). Based on this idea, I decide to make the cartoon funny, so I choose a lively background music. Also, the chick in the cartoon is very kind: When the dog grows a horn, it gives the dog the flower. I shape the chick to be cute and kind to replace the aggressive imagery in Rachel’s mind.
